I have been loving all the coin quilts that everyone’s been making over the last couple of years and I also like the wonky trend too. But I haven’t seen a wonky coin quilt yet. I have decided to fix this. I pulled a bunch of bright vintage linens and some coordinating Kona solids and cut them into thin (41/2) medium (6) and thick (71/2) strips that were about 15 inches long. I then cut up a white sheet into pieces that were 15 long and varying widths. The ultimate idea here is that there I have pieces like this:

Oh my word! I started reading your post and I thought, “oh, a wonky coin quilt–that sounds cute,” and then I saw it and thought, “WONKY COIN QUILT IS SO CUTE!!” (yes, I was totally yelling it in my head) It’s so totally adorable! I love it.

Love seeing the process! Curious on the cutting — I’m a rotary gal, so it strikes me that a ruled cutting mat could stand in for the sheet and yarn, yes? For me it would cut down on goofing things up when moving from the sheet to the mat to square up the edges. I shall give it a go! I love the movement in this quilt….
